SRINAGAR: Director of Information Shreya Singhal on Monday reviewed preparations for the inaugural International Film Festival of Jammu & Kashmir (IFFJK), directing officials to ensure timely completion of all arrangements and close coordination among departments ahead of the four-day event scheduled in September.
Chairing a review meeting at the Media Complex in Srinagar, Singhal assessed preparations related to venue management, delegate facilitation, hospitality, media coordination, transport, cultural programmes, technical support and logistics.
She instructed officials to complete all preparations within the stipulated timelines and ensure smooth coordination among all stakeholders for the successful conduct of the festival.
The meeting was attended by senior officers of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), including Joint Directors, Deputy Directors, Film Production Officer Afaaq Rasool Gadda, District Information Officers and other officials, with some participating through video conferencing.
Singhal said the first edition of the festival would provide an international platform to showcase Jammu and Kashmir’s cultural heritage, natural landscapes and growing potential as a destination for film production and creative collaborations.
She asked officers to regularly monitor the progress of assigned works, address issues promptly and strengthen publicity efforts to maximise the festival’s outreach at the national and international levels.
Officials informed the meeting that preparations for the event are progressing according to schedule.
The first International Film Festival of Jammu & Kashmir will be held from September 7 to 10 under the theme “Rang-e-Cinema”. The festival aims to bring together filmmakers, industry professionals and audiences while promoting the Union Territory as a hub for cinema and creative exchange.
According to the organisers, the festival has received more than 1,100 film entries from over 50 countries across categories including International Competition, Short Film and Bharat Panorama J&K Select. It has also attracted a large number of submissions from filmmakers and artists from Jammu and Kashmir, providing emerging talent from the region with an opportunity to showcase their work on an international platform.
