SRINAGAR: Five passengers were injured after a Jammu-Udhampur passenger bus met with an accident in the Mand area of Udhampur district on Tuesday after its tyre reportedly burst, causing the vehicle to skid off the road and collide with two other vehicles.
Officials said the bus, bearing registration number JK02BJ-7488, was on its way from Jammu to Udhampur when the accident occurred.
A police team rushed to the spot immediately after the incident and launched a rescue operation. The injured passengers were shifted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Tikri, where they are undergoing treatment.
According to preliminary information, the accident occurred after one of the bus’s tyres burst, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the accident.
