The figures were shared by the Ministry of Finance in a written reply to an unstarred question in Parliament. The ministry said the scheme has widened access to institutional finance by providing collateral-free loans to individuals, including informal workers, with viable business plans to establish or expand micro and small enterprises.

According to the state-wise data, Jammu and Kashmir accounted for 26,57,613 loan accounts sanctioned under the scheme. Of these, 6,44,876 loans worth Rs 11,367.02 crore were extended to women entrepreneurs, highlighting their significant share in the programme’s outreach in the Union Territory.

The Centre said the PM Mudra Yojana has played a key role in bringing borrowers from the informal sector into the formal banking system by enabling them to access institutional credit and build credit histories. The scheme offers collateral-free loans through banks, regional rural banks, microfinance institutions and other member lending institutions.

Across the country, more than 59.14 crore loans amounting to Rs 41.71 lakh crore had been sanctioned under the scheme as of June 2026. The beneficiaries include women and young entrepreneurs, with the government stating that the initiative has improved credit access for small businesses and self-employed individuals.

The data was presented as part of the Centre’s response on the impact of the flagship credit scheme on micro and small enterprises, youth and women, along with state-wise details of beneficiaries and loan sanctions.
