Of the total loan accounts sanctioned in JK up to June 26, 2026, 6.44 lakh were for women entrepreneurs, with sanctioned credit of Rs 11,367.02 crore, the data showed.

The figures were provided by Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary in reply to Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No. 2407 on beneficiaries of PMMY.

The scheme’s data also showed that Ladakh recorded 76,253 sanctioned loan accounts involving Rs 2,314.95 crore during the period. Women entrepreneurs in the Union Territory accounted for 22,660 loan accounts, with Rs 468.36 crore sanctioned.

At the national level, more than 59.14 crore loans involving Rs 41.71 lakh crore had been sanctioned under PMMY as of June 2026. Of these, 39.16 crore loan accounts were sanctioned to women entrepreneurs, involving Rs 17.57 lakh crore.

The Finance Ministry said PMMY provides collateral-free institutional credit to eligible individuals, including informal workers, who have a business plan for a small business enterprise.

According to the Government, the scheme has expanded access to formal credit, particularly for people working in the informal sector, and has helped a large number of individual borrowers build credit histories.

The Government said the loans sanctioned under the scheme include beneficiaries from the informal sector as well as women and young entrepreneurs. However, the reply did not provide a separate state-wise breakup of beneficiaries specifically classified as young entrepreneurs.

PMMY was launched to facilitate collateral-free credit for micro and small business activities and to improve access to institutional finance for eligible borrowers.
