Jammu Kashmir: Govt Accepts Resignation of Junior Engineer Appointed Through JKSSB

   

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has accepted the resignation of Junior Engineer (Civil) Mohammad Asif Naikoo, who was appointed through the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB), following his selection as Lecturer-I in the Department of Skill Development.

According to Government Order No. 244-PW(R and B) of 2026, dated July 8, 2026, issued by the Public Works (R and B) Department, Naikoo’s resignation has been accepted with retrospective effect from February 17, 2026, and he has been discharged from service on his own request.

The order states that Naikoo was appointed as a Junior Engineer under Government Order No. 61-PW(R and B) of 2024, dated March 7, 2024, on the recommendation of the JKSSB and was placed at the disposal of the Chief Engineer, Public Works (R and B), Zone South Kashmir.

It further states that the Chief Engineer, Zone South Kashmir, recommended acceptance of his resignation through a communication dated April 4, 2026, after Naikoo secured appointment as Lecturer-I (Civil Engineering) in the Department of Skill Development under Government Order No. 05-JK(DSD) of 2026, dated February 5, 2026.

The government observed that the official was still on probation and examined the matter under Rule 21(1)(b) of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956, which empowers the appointing authority to terminate the probation of a probationer and discharge the employee from service before the expiry of the probation period.
