SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has appointed two candidates as Assistant Professors in the Departments of Anaesthesiology and General Surgery at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, Srinagar.
The appointments were approved on a temporary basis under Government Order No. 606-JK (HME) of 2026 issued by the Health and Medical Education Department on August 6, 2026, following recommendations of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC).
Dr Aymen Masood, daughter of Masood Ahmad Khan and a resident of Baghat, has been appointed as Assistant Professor in Anaesthesiology under the Open Merit category.
Dr Varinder Paul, son of Bansi Lal and a resident of Akhnoor, has been appointed as Assistant Professor in General Surgery under the Scheduled Caste category.
Both appointments carry Pay Level-11, with a pay scale of Rs 67,700-2,08,700, along with Non-Practising Allowance (NPA) as admissible under rules.
The appointees have been directed to report to the Director, SKIMS, Soura, for joining. They must join within 21 days from the date of issuance of the order, failing which their appointment will stand cancelled ab initio without further notice.
The government has also directed that joining will be permitted only after production of original academic and qualification certificates, matriculation or date-of-birth certificate and a health certificate issued by the Standing Medical Board.
