SRINAGAR: Government of Jammu and Kashmir has appointed retired Indian Forest Service officer Suresh Kumar Gupta as Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Water Resources Regulatory Authority, according to an official notification issued on Tuesday.
The appointment has been made under Section 139 of the Jammu and Kashmir Water Resources (Regulation and Management) Act, 2010, through Government Notification S.O. 164 dated June 9, 2026. Gupta will assume charge of the post with effect from the date he formally takes over responsibilities.
According to the notification, the appointment is aimed at strengthening regulatory oversight of water resources management in the Union Territory.
