SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Finance Department has sanctioned the grant of the first and last in-situ promotion, in the form of Higher Standard Pay Scale, to 65 Assistant Accounts Officers (AAOs) of the JK Subordinate Accounts Service, Class-I.
The sanction has been issued under Government Order No. 131-Acctts of 2026, dated 21 August 2026, on the recommendations of the Departmental Promotion Committee of the Accounts and Treasuries Organisation, which met on July 23, 2026.
The benefit has been granted under the J&K Civil Services (Higher Standard Pay Scale Scheme) Rules, 1996, notified through SRO-14 dated January 15, 1996.
The eligible officers will move from Pay Level-7 (Rs 44,900–Rs 1,42,400) to the Higher Standard Pay Scale of Pay Level-8A (Rs 50,700–Rs 1,60,600) from the respective dates specified in the order. The Finance Department has clarified that the in-situ promotion will not involve any change in the officers’ designations, duties, responsibilities or inter-se seniority.
The sanction was authorised by the Director General of Accounts and Treasuries, Finance Department, JK, vide dispatch reference No. DGAT-E-I/Misc/46/2026-01/7884932/116. The order has been circulated to the concerned controlling officers, the Directors of Accounts and Treasuries, Jammu and Kashmir, the Private Secretary to the Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), and other concerned authorities for information and necessary action.
