SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has authorised specified police, excise and revenue officials to exercise powers under Section 41(2) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, across the Union Territory
The authorisation was issued by the Home Department through a notification dated August 31, 2026, under the powers conferred by Section 41(2) of the Act.
The notification empowers all Gazetted Officers of the JK Police Department and all Gazetted Officers of the JK Excise Department to exercise the powers provided under the provision within their respective territorial jurisdiction in the Union Territory.
It also extends the authority to Additional Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners Revenue, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, Tehsildars (Territorial) and Naib Tehsildars (Territorial) of the Revenue Department.
The notification was issued by Chandraker Bharti, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department, by order of the Lieutenant Governor.
