SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has conferred the powers of Collector under the Jammu and Kashmir Land Revenue Act, Samvat 1996, on all Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) across the Union Territory within their respective territorial jurisdictions.
The decision has been notified by the Revenue Department through S.O. 212, issued on July 30, 2026, in exercise of the powers conferred under sub-sections (4) and (5) of Section 6 of the Jammu and Kashmir Land Revenue Act, Samvat 1996.
According to the notification, all SDMs in the Union Territory will exercise the powers of Collector under the Act within the limits of their respective jurisdictions.
