SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved the engagement of retired SSP Manoj Kumar Pandit, JKPS, as a Consultant at Police Headquarters, JK, following his superannuation on June 30, 2026.
The engagement was approved through Government Order No. 402-Home of 2026, issued by the Home Department on August 5, with the approval of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
According to the order, Pandit’s engagement will be for one year at a monthly remuneration of Rs 73,500, amounting to an estimated annual remuneration of Rs 8.82 lakh.
The engagement has been approved against a vacancy in the grade from which Pandit retired. The government order makes it clear that the regular process for filling the vacant post will continue separately.
The terms of engagement provide that no dearness allowance (DA) or increment will be admissible during the consultant’s tenure. Accordingly, no DA will be payable on the pay drawn by Pandit at the time of his retirement.
The order further states that his pay, allowances, leave and any other benefits will be governed strictly by the Department of Expenditure (DoE) Office Memorandum dated December 9, 2020.
In accordance with the DoE’s revised accounting classification issued on December 16, 2022, expenditure on the engagement of retired government servants on a short-term contractual basis will be charged to the ‘Office Expenses’ head.
The engagement is subject to adherence to all applicable codal formalities and guidelines and availability of sufficient funds under the relevant budgetary head. The remuneration will also be governed by the provisions of the DoE’s December 9, 2020 Office Memorandum.
The order further stipulates that the total number of incumbents, including Pandit, must not exceed the sanctioned strength of the concerned grade.
