SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Thursday modified the composition of the Transgender Welfare Board, appointing the Administrative Secretary, Social Welfare Department, as its Member Secretary.
According to an order issued by the General Administration Department, the change has been made in partial modification of Government Order No. 822-JK(GAD) of 2022 dated July 12, 2022. The Administrative Secretary, Social Welfare Department, will replace the Director General, Social Welfare, Kashmir, as Member Secretary of the Board.
The order further states that the Administrative Secretary, Youth Services and Sports Department, has also been inducted as a member of the Transgender Welfare Board.
The Transgender Welfare Board has been constituted to safeguard and promote the rights and interests of transgender persons in the Union Territory.
