SRINAGAR: The Health and Medical Education Department of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has ordered the immediate transfer and posting of eight doctors.
According to Government Order Number 550-JK(HME) of 2026, issued today from the Civil Secretariat in Jammu and Srinagar, the reshuffle includes block medical officers and medical officers across the region.
Under the new directives, Dr Somi Saran Anjal, who was serving as I/C BMO Hiranagar, has been posted as I/C DIO Ramban against an available vacancy. Dr Tabasum Shehnaz, previously the I/C BMO Zainpora, has been transferred to serve as I/C BMO Shopian. Dr Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, formerly a Medical Officer at CHC Nagam, takes over as I/C BMO Zainpora.
Meanwhile, Dr Romy Sharma, who was operating as a Medical Officer at CHC Hiranagar, has been appointed as I/C BMO Hiranagar.
Further structural changes see Dr Nazir Ahmad Dar, who was previously under orders of transfer as BMO Shopian, reassigned as I/C Medical Superintendent at the Trauma Hospital Kangan against an available vacancy. Dr Fozia Bukhari, a Medical Officer at UHC Shastri Nagar Jammu, has been moved to NTPHC Boatman Colony in Srinagar. Dr Shahnaz Ahmad Sheikh, an MD Anaesthesia Medical Officer who was awaiting orders of adjustment in the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir, has been posted to SDH, D.H Pora, Kulgam. Additionally, Dr Mir Ashfaq Hamid, a Medical Officer at PHC Chatroo Kishtwar, has been transferred to PHC Boniyar.
The official directive notes that the new assignments for the first five listed officers have been made on a temporary basis. These specific postings remain subject to the outcome of any pending writ petitions before courts of law.
The government clarified that these temporary arrangements do not grant the officers any right to claim preferential treatment during future regularisation or promotion processes, which will be executed strictly in line with established rules.
