Jammu Kashmir: Govt Orders Transfer, Posting of 23 Doctors

   

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department on Tuesday ordered the transfer and posting of 23 doctors across the Union Territory with immediate effect, citing administrative exigencies and the need to improve patient care services.

The order, issued by Commissioner/Secretary M. Raju, IAS, under Government Order No. 533-JK(HME) of 2026, affects key medical positions in both the Jammu and Srinagar divisions, including Chief Medical Officers, Block Medical Officers, and senior hospital superintendents.

Dr. Harbaksh Singh, previously In-charge Medical Superintendent at Bone and Joint Hospital, Gandhi Nagar, has been posted as In-charge Deputy Medical Superintendent at Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar. Dr. Sanjay Arora has been transferred to the Directorate of Health Services, Jammu, with additional charge of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.

Dr. Salma Bhat has been appointed In-charge CMO Shopian, while Dr. Jatinder Mehta takes over as In-charge Medical Superintendent at Trauma Hospital, Kangan. Dr. Narinder Bhutyal has been posted as In-charge Deputy Director (HQ) at the Directorate of Health Services, Jammu.

Dr. Usha Kiran Sidha has been transferred as In-charge BMO Akhnoor, and Dr. Kanchan Bhagat, Dental Surgeon, has been ordered to PHC Khour against an available vacancy. Dr. Vijay Kumar has been posted as In-charge Mobile Unit, Directorate of Health Services, Jammu.

In the Kashmir division, Dr. Naseem Chouhan has been posted as In-charge BMO Akhnoor, while Dr. Umar Nazir Munshi has been assigned as In-charge BMO Batote. Dr. Neelofer Akhter takes over as In-charge BMO Ramnagar, and Dr. Fozia Gul has been directed to assume charge as In-charge BMO Dansal.

Dr. Feroze Bhat has been posted as In-charge Deputy Medical Superintendent at Bone and Joint Hospital, Srinagar, while Dr. Aga Nadeem has been transferred as In-charge Deputy CMO Srinagar. Dr. Sharmeen Mushtaq has been moved to PHC Haria Chak Kathua.

Several doctors have been placed on deputation to various institutions. Dr. Riyaz Ah. Wani has been deputed to the AIDS Control Society, Dr. Sania Afzal Wani to JKMSCL, and Dr. Umar Nazir Munshi has been deployed to the International Airport, Srinagar. Dr. Neelofer Akhter has been sent to Children’s Hospital, Bemina.

Additional charges have also been given to some officers. Dr. Nazir Ahmed Dar has been given the additional charge of BMO Banihal, while Dr. Opinder Singh has been assigned the additional charge of BMO Ramnagar.

The government clarified that the assignments for few officers are temporary and subject to the outcome of any pending writ petitions before courts of law.

“The above assignment in respect of the officer(s) is made on temporary basis and subject to the outcome of writ petition(s), if any, pending before the Court(s) of law and shall not confer any right upon the officer(s) to claim preferential treatment at the time of regularization/promotion, which shall be made strictly in accordance with the rules,” the order stated.

All doctors have been deemed relieved from their previous postings immediately and are expected to join their new stations without delay, the order added.
