SRINAGAR: More than one lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance at the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas during the first five days of the annual pilgrimage, officials said on Tuesday.
Officials said 28,035 pilgrims visited the 3,800-metre-high cave shrine on Tuesday and had darshan of the naturally formed ice Shivling, taking the total number of devotees to 1,13,800 since the commencement of the Yatra.
The 57-day Amarnath Yatra began on July 3 through the traditional 48-km Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Anantnag district and the shorter 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal district.
The pilgrimage is scheduled to conclude on August 28.
