The restriction will come into force at 6 pm on August 11 and remain in effect until August 13, under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.

The order was issued by Additional District Magistrate Reasi Rakesh Kumar following a site inspection conducted by the Public Works (R and B) Department, Reasi, along with the consultant engaged for the proposed 50-metre span minor bridge.

Following an assessment of the existing bridge, the consultant advised that the movement of heavy vehicles be stopped immediately as a precautionary measure until strengthening work is completed.

The restriction covers heavy axle-load vehicles, including dumpers and buses, on the existing bridge.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Reasi, has been directed to ensure strict enforcement of the order. Any violation will invite action under the applicable provisions of the BNSS, the administration said.

The district administration has appealed to commuters and vehicle operators to cooperate with the restrictions and comply with the order in the interest of public safety.
