SRINAGAR: Toll collections from National Highways in Jammu and Kashmir have increased almost five-fold over the last five financial years, crossing the Rs 500 crore mark for the first time in 2024-25.
Officials sources in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said the user fee collections in the Union Territory rose from Rs 108.75 crore in 2020-21 to Rs 507.56 crore in 2024-25, reflecting a cumulative increase of nearly 367 per cent over the period.
The year-wise collections stood at Rs 108.75 crore in 2020-21, Rs 194.81 crore in 2021-22, Rs 409.96 crore in 2022-23, Rs 436.86 crore in 2023-24 and Rs 507.56 crore in 2024-25.
The sharpest annual increase came in 2022-23, when toll collections more than doubled from the previous year’s Rs 194.81 crore to Rs 409.96 crore, an increase of around 110 per cent. Collections then grew by 6.6 per cent in 2023-24 and by another 16.2 per cent in 2024-25.
Over the five-year period, toll plazas on National Highways and National Expressways in Jammu and Kashmir generated a total of Rs 1,657.94 crore in user fee revenue.
