Jammu Kashmir: Labour Department Clears Promotions for 16 Officials

   

SRINAGAR: The Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) of the Jammu and Kashmir Labour Department has cleared promotions and non-functional career advancements for 16 officials.

The committee, chaired by Labour Commissioner J&K Charandeep Singh, considered the cases of eligible employees at its meeting held on August 21, 2026, after examining their service records and other prescribed eligibility criteria.

Three Labour Inspectors — Nazir Ahmad Najar, Mohammad Salim Sofi and Farooq Ahmad Dar — were promoted as Labour Officers. Mohd Sharief, a Supervisor, was elevated as Caretaker, while Vitan Malla, a Multi-Tasking Staff member, was promoted as Junior Assistant. Abdul Rashid Bhat was promoted from MTS to Supervisor.

In addition to the functional promotions, the DPC granted In-Situ Promotion (Non-Functional) to 10 officials. They include Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, ALWO; Syed Tanwir Ahmad Shah, Nazir Ahmad Jagal, Sanjay Chib, Bashir Ahmad Wani and Mohammad Iqbal, all MTS employees; Roman Teji, Sweeper; Chanchal Kumari and Shahnaz Parveen, Senior Assistants; and Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Medical Assistant.

Labour Commissioner Charandeep Singh congratulated the officials and said timely career progression was an important aspect of employee welfare that helped build a motivated, efficient and accountable workforce.

He expressed confidence that the promoted officials would continue to perform their enhanced responsibilities with dedication, professionalism, integrity and commitment to public service, contributing to the effective functioning of the department and improved service delivery.

The Labour Department also extended its best wishes to all the officials on their career advancement.
