SRINAGAR: Senior enforcement and security agencies from Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on Monday reviewed drug trafficking trends, illicit cultivation and financial networks linked to narcotics during a joint coordination meeting here.
The second Union Territory-level Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting on narcotics control was held at the Police Control Room, Srinagar, under the chairpersonship of DDG (NWR), Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), and IG Crime/Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of J&K Police.
Officials from the Enforcement Directorate, Border Security Force, State Drug Controller, Intelligence Bureau, Customs, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Income Tax Department and National Investigation Agency, besides SSPs of Jammu, Srinagar and Ganderbal, attended the meeting.
The agencies discussed emerging patterns in drug trafficking, inter-state linkages, illicit cultivation, information sharing, joint investigations, financial probes and prosecution of narcotics cases.
The meeting also discussed implementation of the Vision Document on Drug Control (2026-2029), which was unveiled by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the 10th apex-level meeting of the Narco-Coordination Centre in New Delhi on June 26.
Officials stressed the need for closer coordination between agencies, joint interrogation of suspects, financial investigations and greater use of existing information-sharing mechanisms to track drug networks.
The meeting concluded with a focus on coordinated action to detect and disrupt drug trafficking networks operating across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
