The fire originated at Chinar Agro Industries during the early hours and quickly spread to neighbouring units before the fire brigade arrived. Despite their efforts, firefighters faced challenges in controlling the flames and preventing them from spreading further. The blaze was eventually brought under control, but not before inflicting substantial losses.

Muzaffar Ahmad, President of the Industrial Estate Bijbehara, shared details of the incident and confirmed that authorities are investigating the cause of the fire while assessing the total damage.

This is the fourth major fire incident in Kashmir’s industrial estates in recent months, following similar disasters in Lassipora, Burzallah, and Sopore. The Federation of Chambers of Industries Kashmir (FCIK) expressed deep sorrow over the recurring losses. FCIK President Shahid Kamili has contacted the Director of Industries and Commerce, Kashmir, and the Managing Director of SICOP/SIDCO to highlight the growing number of fire incidents in industrial estates and demand for improved safety measures.
