SRINAGAR: Police in Udhampur district of Jammu Kashmir have booked a media page operator after a market fee dispute escalated into verbal abuse and was live-streamed on social media, causing obstruction in lawful duty.
A written complaint was received at PS Udhampur from Manpreet Singh, proprietor of M/s Manpreet and Co., alleging that Mahesh Banthia of Ward No. 07 Udhampur, while carrying fruits and vegetables over 20 kg on scooty JK14J/2755, refused to pay the mandated market fee and instead shouted, used abusive language and called him a thief, it reads.
The complainant further stated that Aman Sharma of Ward No. 10 Udhampur recorded the incident and streamed it live on a media page JKCN causing obstruction in lawful duty, it reads.
On this, FIR No. 411/2025 U/S 353(2) BNS has been registered at PS Udhampur and investigation is underway, reads the statement. (KNC)
