SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir has been recognised as the ‘Best Performing Union Territory’ for achieving saturation of frontline workers with Ayushman Cards under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).
The State Health Agency (SHA), J&K received the award at Aarogya Manthan 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, held to mark eight years of AB-PMJAY and five years of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
Virender Kumar, Nodal Officer, SHA J&K, received the award from Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda in the presence of senior officials from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, National Health Authority and other dignitaries.
The recognition relates specifically to the coverage of frontline workers with Ayushman Cards. The Government said SHA J&K, Chief Medical Officers, district teams, frontline health workers and field functionaries contributed to the coverage across the Union Territory.
The award adds to ongoing efforts by SHA J&K to implement AB-PMJAY SEHAT and extend scheme benefits across Jammu and Kashmir.
