SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir National Health Mission Employees Association (JKNHMEA) has extended its ongoing protest and strike across the Union Territory by another 72 hours from September 18, citing the continued pendency of its demands and lack of a concrete, time-bound resolution.
The decision was taken by the association’s Joint Coordination Committee and formally communicated to the Mission Director, National Health Mission, JK, on Thursday.
In its communication, the association said the extension had been necessitated by the continued pendency of its long-standing demands and the absence of a concrete response from the competent authorities.
The JKNHMEA said employees would continue the agitation peacefully and within the democratic and constitutional framework. Participants have also been asked to maintain discipline and public order during the extended protest.
The association said it had informed the authorities in advance about the decision for their information and necessary cognisance.
It also reiterated its willingness to engage in dialogue and constructive discussions, while expressing hope that the Government would take meaningful and time-bound measures to address the grievances of NHM employees.
