SRINAGAR: The Directorate of Rural Development Department, Jammu, has suspended a Panchayat Secretary posted in Block Jakayas of Doda district following the circulation of a video on social media alleging corruption.
According to an official order, Chanchal Singh, Panchayat Secretary, Block Jakayas, has been placed under suspension with immediate effect pending an inquiry into the allegations.
During the suspension period, Singh has been attached to the office of the Assistant Commissioner Development, Udhampur, the order said.
The department has appointed Neeraj Sharma, JKAS, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Kishtwar, as the Inquiry Officer to conduct a detailed examination of the allegations.
Sharma has been directed to investigate the matter, record detailed findings and submit the inquiry report, along with specific recommendations, within 15 days.
