SRINAGAR: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, police in Budgam booked eight drug peddlers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act since January 2025.
“The drug peddlers have been identified as Nazir Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Tangnar Chadoora; Mohd Sultan Bhat, a resident of Sholipora; Mohd Altaf Ganie, a resident of Dardpora; Farooq Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Tangnar Chadoora; Abdul Hameed Dar, a resident of Sholipora; Reyaz Ahmad Ahanger, a resident of Shandpora Watakuloo; Mehraj Ahmad Mir, a resident of Choon Budgam; and Mohd Rafiq Dar, a resident of Russu,” a police spokesperson in a statement said.
It reads, “JK Police urge the public to support efforts in combating drug trafficking by reporting any suspicious activities related to narcotics.”
