Jammu Kashmir: Police Detain Two Female OGWs Under Public Safety Act

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir  Police on Tuesday said they have booked two female OGWs under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in Udhampur district.

A police spokesperson in a statement said, “District Police Udhampur has detained two Female Terror Associates (OGWs) under the PSA, identified as Maryama Begum, wife of Mohd. Shafeeq, resident of Loudhara, Basantgarh, and Arshad Begum, wife of the late Jamal Din, resident of Rai Chak, Basantgarh. They were assessed to be posing a significant threat to the safety and security of the state.”

These militants associates were found to be involved in providing logistical support to terrorist groups and acting as guides/facilitators for terrorist organisations. Their continuous actions posed a serious risk to public safety and tranquillity, the police said.

To prevent further criminal activities detrimental to the security of the state and in view of their actions, both were ordered to be detained under the PSA, reads the statement. (GNS)
