SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police has urged tourists to exercise caution while making travel bookings, warning them against fraudulent offers, suspicious links and unverified individuals.
In its travel safety advisory, the police advised tourists to make bookings only through official websites and trusted sources and to verify offers before making payments.
Tourists have also been asked not to share one-time passwords (OTPs), bank details or other personal information with unknown persons or through unverified platforms.
The police cautioned that offers that appear too good to be true could be scams and urged visitors to remain alert while planning and undertaking their journeys.
Tourists who fall victim to cyber fraud have been advised to immediately contact the national cyber fraud helpline at 1930.
“Be informed, be careful, travel safe,” the police said in its advisory, urging tourists to prioritise safety while travelling.
