SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir has recorded 6,339 candidates enrolled or trained under the Centre’s FutureSkills PRIME programme, of whom 3,630 have completed courses and received certification, according to data tabled in the Lok Sabha.
The figures mean that around 57 per cent of those enrolled or trained in Jammu and Kashmir have completed and been certified under the programme, which focuses on emerging technology skills.
Jammu and Kashmir’s enrolment/training figure is higher than that of Himachal Pradesh, which recorded 4,258 candidates, but lower than Uttarakhand’s 12,439. Ladakh, meanwhile, recorded 149 candidates enrolled or trained, with 31 completing courses and receiving certification.
Among the states and Union territories in the Himalayan region listed in the data, Jammu and Kashmir accounted for the largest number of candidates enrolled or trained. It also recorded the highest number of certified candidates among the three Himalayan regions listed — J&K, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Ladakh.
At the national level, more than 34 lakh candidates have registered on the FutureSkills PRIME portal, while over 23 lakh have enrolled or trained in various courses and more than 13 lakh have completed courses or received certification.
The programme has courses in areas including artificial intelligence, big data analytics, cybersecurity, Internet of Things, blockchain and augmented/virtual reality.
The data also shows that 41 per cent of beneficiaries nationally are women, while more than 86 per cent are from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
The Centre allocated Rs 137.17 crore for the programme in 2026-27, compared with Rs 98.48 crore in 2025-26 and Rs 55.97 crore in 2024-25.
