SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir has uploaded 25,568 Waqf properties on the Centre’s UMEED portal, with 25,248 properties approved by the designated authority, according to data presented in the Lok Sabha.
The data, updated as of August 7, showed that 223 properties were initiated for entry by the maker, while 34 were submitted by makers and 10 were pending with the approver. Five properties had been approved at the final stage, while 48 were returned to the maker.
The figures were part of a state-wise progress report on the UMEED Central Portal-2025 submitted by the Ministry of Minority Affairs in response to a Lok Sabha question on technical and operational difficulties faced by Waqf Boards.
The UMEED portal was launched on June 6, 2025, to facilitate the uploading and management of Waqf property records. The government said some technical and operational issues were reported after its launch, mainly due to the digitisation of large volumes of legacy data, internet connectivity, varying levels of digital preparedness and gaps in the availability of records.
The Ministry said server capacity was augmented as uploads increased, particularly towards the end of the initial six-month deadline. It also said a monitoring mechanism had been built into the portal to track properties that were uploaded, approved, pending or reverted.
Under the UMEED Act, Waqf properties registered before the commencement of the amended law are required to have their details uploaded on the portal within six months, with provisions for further extension in specified circumstances.
The J&K figures place the Union Territory among the states and UTs with a substantial number of Waqf properties recorded on the portal, with 25,568 properties initiated or completed as of August 7.
