SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir has consistently recorded more than 100 per cent coverage in key childhood immunisation indicators delivered through the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) and the National Health Mission (NHM), the Union Government informed the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, while highlighting the rollout of digital monitoring under Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0.
Responding to an unstarred question, Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur said Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 integrates nutritional support for children below six years, pregnant and lactating women, adolescent girls, early childhood care and education, Anganwadi infrastructure and Poshan Abhiyaan under a single framework aimed at reducing malnutrition and improving health outcomes.
The Ministry informed Parliament that Jammu and Kashmir reported immunisation coverage above 100 per cent for several indicators over the past four years, including Full Immunisation Coverage (FIC), Oral Polio Vaccine third dose (OPV3), Pentavalent-3 and Measles-Rubella first dose. For 2025-26, the Union Territory recorded 106.6 per cent FIC, 104.5 per cent OPV3, 104.2 per cent Pentavalent-3 and 106.8 per cent Measles-Rubella first dose, while BCG coverage stood at 100.3 per cent.
For the current financial year (April-June 2026), Jammu and Kashmir has recorded 105.6 per cent Full Immunisation Coverage, 105.5 per cent Measles-Rubella first dose, 94.6 per cent Pentavalent-3, 94.4 per cent OPV3 and 93 per cent BCG coverage.
The government clarified that immunisation coverage exceeding 100 per cent is attributed to interstate migration of beneficiaries, as reported by States and Union Territories.
The Minister said Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 provides six core services through Anganwadi Centres—supplementary nutrition, pre-school non-formal education, nutrition and health education, immunisation, health check-ups and referral services. Immunisation, health check-ups and referral services are delivered through the National Health Mission and the public health system.
The Centre also said the Poshan Tracker digital application is being used for real-time monitoring of Anganwadi Centres, workers and beneficiaries. The platform captures data on daily attendance, early childhood education activities, growth monitoring, hot cooked meals, take-home rations and other service delivery indicators, enabling continuous review of programme implementation.
The Ministry informed the House that state-wise and year-wise data on beneficiary registration, supplementary nutrition and growth monitoring under Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 is available through the Poshan Tracker portal.
