SRINAGAR: Security forces on Wednesday launched a search operation in a dense nursery near the International Border (IB) in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said, as per The Hindu.
The operation was initiated jointly by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the local police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) around 3 p.m. in the Dholka-Sanyal nursery, considered a possible infiltration route, they added.
Officials said the search was still under way when reports were last received.
The area has witnessed militant activity in the past. In March, security forces intercepted a group of heavily armed militants after they crossed over from Pakistan, triggering a prolonged gunfight. The encounter ended with the killing of three Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants in a nearby area while they were attempting to move towards Billawar.
