Jammu The Best District On MGNREGA Front, Sagar

State’s winter capital Jammu has emerged as a model district as for as the implementation of MGNREGA is concerned. Rural Development Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar revealed in the state assembly.

“Jammu district has been ranked as one of the top most in the implementation of MGNREGA in the country and recently it was awarded by the Union Ministry at New Delhi”, Sagar said.

The minister said that the pace of implementation of the flagship scheme registered a phenomenal growth since 2008-09. The spending has jumped from Rs 86.51 crore in 2008-09 to Rs 850 crore in 2012-13. During the current financial year the scheme is expected to cross an availability of Rs 1000 crores with zero liability to the next financial year.

Sagar said 1.10 lakh number of works have been taken in hand and ending January 2014, 2.35 crore man-days were generated which may touch four crore by the end of current financial year. He said the next year’s labour budget for the first quarter stands approved at 2.88 crore man-days adding that 10.99 lakh families stand registered and job cards issued to them.
