SRINAGAR: Two men are feared to have drowned in the Chenab River while bathing near Hamirpur in the Akhnoor area of Jammu district on Sunday, officials said.
The missing men have been identified as Gajay Singh, 30, and Rakesh Singh, 35, both residents of Khour area of Akhnoor.
According to officials, the two friends had gone to the river to take a bath when they apparently drowned.
Police, along with teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), besides local volunteers, launched a joint search and rescue operation to trace the two men.
