As Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president has shown here “reluctance” to take over the reins of Jammu and Kashmir, political uncertainty continues to hover over state.
Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed died in office as Chief Minister while he was admitted in AIIMS, New Delhi.
A default heir apparent, Mehbooba will be first female CM of Jammu and Kashmir. In deep shock, she has not shown any willingness, so far, to take oath as CM. Neither is any of her party men able to persuade her.
Sources and media reports suggest, Mehbooba has been maintaining that let “four days mourning of her Dad finish first”.
On Friday evening, Mehbooba met Secretary General of right wing Hindu nationalist, BJP, Ram Madhav at her residence, one-to-one. Post his meet with PDP president, Madhav drove to Circuit house here and met his all party men.
Late that evening, Governor House too shot letters to PDP and BJP asking them to “clear the air on government formation”.
On the other hand, sources too confirmed that Mehbooba shall not take oath of office till Monday, thus, making governor an apparent administrator.
However, political observers believe, Mehbooba might be making a surprise move by forming government and taking oath on January 12, the day late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was born. Mufti Sayeed missed his eightieth birthday by five days when he died on last Thursday.
Whether Mehbooba takes a call or not remains to be seen.
