In a surprising move, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (m) senior leader and chairperson of his faction of Muslim Conference, Prof Abdul Gani Bhat Saturday visited Fairview residence of late Mufti Sayeed to offer condolences.

Former CM, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed died on January 07 in AIIMS at New Delhi.

Prof Bhat, who is reported to have met Mufti Sayeed before his forming coalition with right wing Hindu Nationalist BJP at the same place, Prof Bhat, one of participants of the condolence meeting said, made an “emotional speech”.

“He praised late Mufti Sayeed like anything,” the participants said.

“We studied together in Aligarh Muslim university in two different subjects,” he said, “I studied Persian and late Mufti sahab Arabic.”

Praising his wit, endurance, and camaraderie, Bhat said, “I always fought with Mufti sahab because we had two different ideologies but our hearts beat for Kashmir.”
