An army officer was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside a camp at Machil sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district last evening.
A police official told GNS that Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) Uma Shankar of 45 RR was found lying inside the army unit while performing his duty at Machil sector near Line of Control yesterday.
Soon after the colleagues found their officer lying on the floor, they rushed him to Drugmulla military hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, he said.
The body of Shankar (42), a resident of Fatehpur in UP has been sent to his native village, the official said.
Meanwhile, Police have registered a case and started further investigations in this regard.
A tourist died of a cardiac arrest on Monday at Gulmarg resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A Police officer said that the tourist identified as 69-year-old Kamal Bacha, son of Abu Bakr Bacha, a native of Tamil Nadu fell unconscious when he arrived at the Gulmarg tourist resort early on today.
“Bacha was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead,” he said.
After conducting all legal formalities, the body of the deceased has been handed over to the next of his kins, the official added.
