Police claimed to have rescued around 160 truckers stranded along snow bound Mughal Road.

Police said that it sent food items for stranded passengers and truckers on Mughal Road on Monday.

Traffic has come to a halt on Mughal Road in wake of heavy snowfall in Peer Panchal Range. Cranes were used to pull out 4 vehicles stuck in snow.

SSP Shopian, Altaf Khan, said, “efforts are being made to ensure safety and comfort of the passengers.” “Nearly 160 trucks were stranded. They have been rescued,” Khan said.

He added that 9 among them are still stranded. “Efforts are on to get their drivers and conductors back.”

Dy SP Hq Zahoor Ahmad Wani and Dy SP Dar Tariq Ahmad and SHO Heerpora, Muzamil Showkat, along with police party are still on spot.

Heavy snow is hampering the rescue efforts. The police are on job.
