Khawaja Gh Mohammad Bhat: JeI New Amir

The newly elected Shoora (Advisory Council) of Jama’at-e-Islami (JeI) J&K which met here Tuesday under its new Amir, Gh Mohammad Bhat selected the new central working team for 2015-2016 session.

According to a JeI functionary, the first session of newly elected Shoora was today held at JeI central office at Batamaloo.

The elections to the post of Amir culminated on August 29 with Gh Mohammad Bhat making a comeback after fifteen years. He is heading the state’s largest Islamic fundamentalist organization for the record fourth time.

After taking over JeI, Bhat also called on Hurriyat patriarch, Syed Ali Geelani and his deputy, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai at their office in Uptown Hyderpora. The move is being seen as major development.

The JeI functionary said that the Shoora decided to call back Gh Qadir Lone as Secretary General while Dr Hamid Fayaz has been assigned a new job as Secretary Public Relations.

Former Amir-I-Jama’at, Sheikh Muhammad Hassan shall work as ‘Special Advisor’ to Amir-I-Jama’at while Faheem Muhammad Ramzan and Gazi Mo’in-Ul-Islam shall assist Secretary General for the 2015-16 session.

Nazir Ahmad Raina, shall work as head ‘Shoba Taleem-o-Tarbiat’ while former Amir, Muhammad Abdullah Wani over-see work of various education departments of JeI. Tariq Makki shall work as head of ‘Shoba Dawat’.

Status Quo has been maintained on the position of Advocate Zahid Ali who has been working as Head Political Bureau of JeI in addition him being as Spokesperson of the organization. Ess Ahmad Pirzada, who is author of Waadiy-e-Khoonaab, has been made Incharge of JeI Press and Publications division.

The Shoora also selected new heads of its basic units (Districts). Bashir Ahmad Lone shall head the Srinagar unit of JeI while Sheikh Bashir Ahmad Furkaan Aabaadi will be Amir-I-Zila Doda to name a few.

“The new structure seems innovative in many ways as the new Amir has taken quite remarkable steps,” one of the functionaries of JeI said this evening after the decision was publicised. “The new set up seems to have rejuvenated the work culture in JeI which over the years had been eroded.”

The JeI member further said that current re-organization of system has placed people at ‘right places’. “M Abdullah Wani is experienced as Education Administrator and today he was given the same task; this implies that some revolutionary measures are being taken,” the JeI functionary, who has been assigned a new role today, told Kashmir Life adding, “coming back of Lone as Secretary General too is important. Lone is an ace political thinker; he has his understanding of issues and his being taking over as administrative head of JeI is crucial.”

A City youth, Muzamil Meer, sympathizer of JeI says that Gh Mohammad Bhat is a strong decision maker and under him JeI will come to fore front again. “In past as well, Bhat has been making prudent and strong decisions and he carved a strong leader out of himself,” Muzamil said. “It is a renewed beginning but innovative and modern decisions are expected from new dispensation as challenges are huge,” Muzamil said adding, “JeI has to mould itself into global outlook so as to put forward its viewpoint.”
