Advocating continuing efforts for streamlining educational system in the state, former deputy chief minister and senior PDP leader Muzaffar Husain Baig Tuesday hoped that a comprehensive educational policy will come up within five years. He also asked student to opt science and technology for bright future.

While terming Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as a “kind-hearted and serious politician”, Baig said that some media reports wrongly quoted him and maliciously attributed statements to him against education ministry.

On September 6, Baig as per media reports had said that there was no educational policy in the state. On this, the PDP MP in a statement to KNS said that he never questioned education policy in the state but said there was a need to have a comprehensive education policy in the country including J&K. “And I hope in five years’ time we will have a comprehensive educational policy in the state,” he said.

Baig added that statements attributed to him were “wrong and maliciously intended”.

He said he had not mentioned name of any minister or ministry of the state government in his address at a function in SKICC on September 6. “The function was apolitical and I made it clear in my address that I was there not to do mudslinging but to talk about the bright future prospects of students,” he said.
