The Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta Friday condemned the militant attack on the Rajbagh Police Station in Kathua district.

On behalf of the entire House, the Speaker condemned the incident asking the government to take measures to strengthen the security network and check such attacks from happening. He said the sympathies of the entire House are with the families of those who were killed in the attack.

Condemning the attack, the Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh earlier gave details about the incident to the House and said that militants attacked the Rajbagh police Station at 6:18 am after killing the Santry on duty, entered the Police Station. He said the whole area has been cordoned by the Police and CRPF Jawans and encounter was still raging on. He said as per the details available to him, 10 people including 2 police, 7 CRPF and 1 civilian were injured in the attack so far and they have been evacuated to Kathua hospital. He said since the area is still under security cordon and security forces are still engaged to flush out terrorists, it is not possible to present all the details at the moment.
