Six including three forces personnel, two militants and a civilian were killed in Kuthua encounter which started early Friday.

Militants in Army fatigues stormed a police station in Kathua district, killing three forces personnel and two militants. One civilian was also killed in the encounter leaving 10 others injured.

This is the first major militant attack in the state since the formation of the PDP-BJP coalition government in the state on March 1.

Police sources said a group of militants stormed Rajbagh Police Station in Kuthua and opened indiscriminate fire.

Six persons have been killed in the attack including two militants, two CRPF personnel, a policeman and a civilian while 10 others have been injured, police said.

Police sources said that the militants wearing Army uniforms intercepted a jeep going from Jammu to Pathankot on the pretext of checking the vehicle.

They hijacked the jeep which had three passengers on board and fled towards the Rajbagh Police Station where they opened fire on a sentry and killed him.

The militants then hurled grenades at the police station and opened indiscriminate fire.
