SRINAGAR: In a heartening gesture that underscores its commitment to community welfare and social responsibility, Jammu and Kashmir Bank has donated a 42-seater school bus to Pinewood School, Hamirpur in the border area of Balakote in Rajouri district. The school is managed by the Indian Army and caters to students from some of the remotest villages in the region.

The new bus is expected to ease the daily commute for dozens of schoolchildren from difficult-to-access border hamlets, thereby improving their access to consistent and quality education. The donation is part of J&K Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at fostering inclusive development through education and rural outreach.
The bus was formally handed over during a special function at the school premises. J&K Bank’s Zonal Head (Rajouri) Satish Kumar presented the keys to Major General Koshik Mukherji, GOC 25 Infantry Division (Rajouri), in the presence of Colonel Sambhav Sagar, Principal of Pinewood School Dr Deepak Bakshi, and other senior Army and Bank officials. Among those present were Aehajaz Ahmed (AGM & Cluster Head, Poonch), Sanjeev Kumar Datta (AGM), Sahil Gupta (Branch Head, Balakote), and other officers.
Major General Mukherji expressed his gratitude to the Bank on behalf of the Indian Army and the school community. “This generous donation from J&K Bank will go a long way in improving the daily lives of students and stands as a fine example of how community partnerships can create a lasting impact,” he said.
