Sub-committee of State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) for export promotion organized by J&K Bank met here Monday at the Bank’s Corporate Headquarters. Executive President of the Bank, O. P. Sharma chaired the meeting.

A wide range of issues including setting up of Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Srinagar, Brand certification of Kashmir made products, setting up of Pashmina testing laboratory at Srinagar and providing of liberal finance to the artisans & weavers at concessional rate of interest were discussed in the meeting.

The meeting, which was fifth in series, was attended among others by Nayeemullah, President A&AP, J&K Bank, Ravinder Koul, Assistant General Manager Reserve Bank of India, Karanjit Singh Assistant Vice-President FEBD, J&K Bank, M. Muazzam M.D. SIDCO, P. Saibabu Assistant Director General of Foreign Trade Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad, Joint Director Handicrafts Kashmir, Mohammad Ashraf Mir President FCIK, Shiekh Ashiq, Sr. Vice President KCCI and the representatives of ECGC and banks operating in J&K.

M.D.SIDCO informed that work on inland container depot (ICD) at Srinagar is almost complete and they in coordination with KCCI Intend to commission it soon.

Joint Director Handicrafts informed the house that Brand certification of Kashmir made products is in final stage and Pashmina testing laboratory is also being set up at CDI, Baghi-Ali Mardan Khan and both the facilities are expected to be commissioned in a months time.

Mr. Ravinder Koul, AGM RBI, suggested that innovative designs and products should be launched in consultation with some qualified agency to promote sale of Kashmir made products.

As a step to facilitate the exporters Assistant Director General of Foreign Trade informed that the office is functional in Srinagar since 02-05-2012 and informed that I. E. Code is being issued within one day.
