SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Bank has suspended an employee who allegedly murdered an elderly man from Chanapora area of uptown Srinagar earlier this week, officials said Saturday.

The development came a day after the family of deceased; Abdul Majeed Baqal, 65, of Mini Housing Colony Chanapora appeared at Press Enclave to seek registration of First Information Report (FIR) against the alleged accused, Waseem Feroz Khan Alias Jimmy.

Jimmy, who is also known as Jimmy footballer according to the family of the deceased, ruthlessly, eaten him until he died of severe internal injuries. A police official told news agency KNO that Waseem Feroz was arrested the same day the family of the deceased filed a written complaint against the alleged accused.

He said there is no question of ‘leniency’ with the accused as was alleged by the victim’s family during their protest at Press Enclave on Friday. He said the police have started an investigation into the incident which is being probed professionally.

In the meantime, Jammu and Kashmir Bank pending an investigation into the alleged murder has suspended Waseem Feroz who has allegedly murdered an elderly man from Chanapora. Confirming suspension of Waseem, Public Relation Officer (PRO) J&K Bank said the bank authorities after taking cognizance of the incident suspended him pending investigation.

Pertinently, Baqal was allegedly beaten to death by his neighbour, Waseem Feroz Khan, when the deceased was washing the pathway of his home on a fateful day.

The family of the deceased staged a protest at Press Enclave on Friday alleging that the police was making dilly-dallying tactics to file an FIR and instead compels them to negotiate with the accused.
