J&K govt appoints 49 dependents under Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme

   

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has provided compassionate appointments to 49 eligible dependents of deceased employees through the Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) under the Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme, 2022.

According to an official statement, the appointments cover eligible cases from 2022 to 2025 and were made under the Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme notified through SO 429 of 2022 on October 6, 2022, and later amended by SO 397 of 2024 on August 16, 2024.

After adopting the scheme in 2025, JPDCL initiated a process to clear pending applications. The statement said each case was scrutinised to ensure transparency, fairness and compliance with the prescribed eligibility criteria, with one eligible dependent from each family being offered employment.

Managing Director of JPDCL said all appointments were made transparently and in accordance with government guidelines, adding that the corporation would continue implementing the scheme while maintaining accountability and efficiency.

The government has also directed that all eligible cases under the scheme be disposed of in a time-bound manner, the statement added.
