SRINAGAR: Tourists travelling to and from Gulmarg will face evening traffic restrictions during the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026, with authorities barring tourist vehicles from plying on the Srinagar-Gulmarg route after 5 pm throughout the notified Yatra period.
According to the traffic advisory issued by Police Baramulla, no tourist vehicle will be permitted to travel from Gulmarg towards Srinagar after 5 pm. Similarly, tourist vehicles travelling from Srinagar to Gulmarg will also not be allowed to proceed after the stipulated time.
The restrictions have been imposed to ensure the safe and uninterrupted movement of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra convoys and to facilitate effective traffic management during the pilgrimage.
Police have advised tourists to plan their journeys in advance and complete both onward and return travel within the prescribed timings. Visitors have also been urged to follow directions issued by police and traffic personnel deployed along the route.
The authorities said the measures have been introduced in the interest of public safety, traffic regulation and the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage. While regretting the inconvenience caused to tourists, they appealed to visitors, hoteliers, transport operators and the general public to cooperate by adhering to the traffic regulations and planning their travel accordingly.
Police Baramulla said it remains committed to ensuring a safe and hassle-free experience for visitors while facilitating the smooth conduct of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026.
