Government Friday declared that it is in a process of increasing workforce of women police force.

“Out of the 4000 female constable posts advertised by police department, 2484 females after qualifying Physical Endurance Test (PET) have appeared in written test,” Home department of the state government informed.

The department is held by Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti.

Currently, police department has a strength of 2619 women personnel, out of which 49 are gazetted officers and the remaining 2570 are non- gazetted, government informed.

The females who want to be a part of police force need 5’2’’.

However, there has been relaxation for candidates from Leh and Kargil districts including subjects belonging to Gorkha community.

The supplementaries were raised by Members of Legislative Assembly, Shamima Firdous and Dr Gagan Bhagat.
