DSC_0151Massive protest demonstrations were Friday held against the establishment of Sainik Colonies, KP Townships, and implementation of new state Industrial policy.

A joint programme for shutdown on Thursday and subsequent peaceful protests after Friday prayers across Jammu and Kashmir was given by both Hurriyat factions led by Mirwaiz Umar and Syed Ali Geelani and JKLF led by Muhammad Yasin Malik.
While JKLF leaders marched from JKLF headquarters in Maisuma to Gaw Kadal, its chief Yasin Malik has been lodged in Kothi Bagh Police station.

“After Friday prayers we tried to take out procession from Maqbool Manzil. As the procession reached near Budshah Bridge heavy deployment of forces foiled the march,” a JKLF spokesperson informed.

In Hyderpora, Hurriyat (g) members, workers and several leaders took out a rally after Friday prayers from Jamia Majid and marched towards Airport road. The protestors later dispersed peacefully, a Hurriyat (g) spokesperson said.

HyderporaTalking to Kashmir Life he said, “We took out a march from Jamia Masjid Hyderpora and culminated our peaceful protest at Airport road.”

Meanwhile, Hurriyat (m) supporters and several leaders held a sit-in outside Jamia Masjid in Srinagar.

“We held a peaceful sit outside Jamia Masjid premises,” a Hurriyat (m) spokesperson said.

He said the future course of action will be decided in a joint meet, between JKLF chairperson Muhammad Yasin Malik, Hurriyat (g) chairperson Syed Ali Geelani and Hurriyat (m) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference (m) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and octogenarian Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani were yet again barred to offer mandatory congregational Friday prayers.

DSC_0184Mirwaiz who delivers Friday sermons at Jamia Majid continues to be under house arrest since Wednesday.

While Geelani, continues to be under house detention since he returned from Delhi early this year.
