No polio case was reported from anywhere across J&K since 2010, health minister Shabir Khan said on Sunday when the health officials administered pulse polio drops to nearly two million children. The drops are provided to the child population up to the age of five.

Khan said over 19.50 lakh children were administered pulse polio drops through 11477 booths established across the state in the first phase of the campaign. It involved 45370 personnel and envisaged 315 mobile and 298 transit teams. Authorities had kept 25 lakh doses of the vaccines available.

There were about 8.66 lakh children in Jammu and 10.85 lakh children from Kashmir. Srinagar had 175178 children, Kupwara 134497, Baramulla 159600, Budgam 107587, Islamabad 156484, Kulgam 91546, Bandipora 60375, Shopian 40400, Pulwama 74106,Ganderbal 43139, Leh 21511, and Kargil 20967.
