JK Police Raid Multiple Locations in UAPA Crackdown on Separatist Groups

   

SRINAGAR: Police carried out raids at multiple locations in Srinagar and Sopore, targeting the residences of several top separatist leaders, most of whom are currently in jail. The searches were conducted as part of ongoing investigations into cases registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Officials said the cases were linked to banned organisations, including the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference (Bhat Group), the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League (Masrat Alam Group), and the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (Shabir Shah Group). The searches focused on suspected members of these organisations and their alleged involvement in unlawful activities.

According to the police, the raids were carried out with proper legal sanction and included the residences of prominent separatist leaders in Rajbagh, Habba Kadal, Batmaloo, Khanyar, Lal Bazar, and Chanpora. Authorities stated that the searches were conducted in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses.

The houses raided belonged to separatist leaders Masrat Alam, Shabir Shah, Professor Gani, and others. (KNT)
